What We Do

CIRDE is a very active commission within the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB). Every year, CIRDE is increasing its activities and subsequently the number of trained people on interreligious and ecumenical dialogue, on peacebuilding and on environmental peacebuilding.

Besides its yearly activities, such as the Metropolitan Trainings, the Annual Consultative Meetings and the National Executive Committee Meetings, CIRDE is facilitating trainings for the Catholic National Youth Council and Seminarian Trainings. Furthermore, CIRDE conducts Diocesan trainings on specific requests by the Dioceses.

For monitoring and evaluation purposes, CIRDE holds every year a monitoring workshop together with its partner AGIAMONDO and an annual evaluation workshop together with its partner the Institute for Interreligiosu Dialogue & Islamic Studies (IRDIS) from the Tangaza University College. Additionally CIRDE regularly meets with IRDIS for planning meetings.

In 2023, CIRDE reviewed the KCCB Strategic Plan from 2014-2023 and planned the new KCCB Strategic Plan from 2024 to 2033 for the commission.

Moreover, CIRDE is also attending workshops organized by AGIAMONDO, such as the upcoming partner workshop by AGIAMONDO on environmental peacebuilding in October 2023. In 2022, CIRDE with its national staff attended the IRDIS Summer School, a 3-week intense workshop on Christian-Muslim dialogue.

In 2022 and 2023, CIRDE trained its own staff at two workshop series on the topic of gender, facilitated by the Institute for Interreligious Dialogue & Islamic Studies (IRDIS).
